This is a list of a company’s typically used words. The names of your products and services, or terms use in your own industry. Together, these make up the company’s terminology. When a company uses a terminology database, you can be confident that the right words and names are used in translations, and that the text will be translated consistently no matter who translates it. Using a terminology database is essential in order to produce consistent, accurate translations for your company.
How do we compile a company’s terminology?
You can create an Excel file, and add all the company’s product names, industry expressions and any specific job titles to the spreadsheet. Once this is ready, send it to us for translation into the relevant languages. The list of terms is stored as a database with us, and will be linked to our CAT (computer aided translation) tools and the company’s texts. The translator then has access to the terms via his or her work tools. The time you spend compiling your company’s terminology will be repaid many times over. And that’s a promise!
Product information systems
PIM stands for product information management, and involves dealing with all the information needed in order to market and sell products. With a PIM system, you can manage all your product information in a single central database. This allows the company to save a great deal of money, and there will be fewer errors when moving text and images around. A number of different companies provide PIM systems.
