Why do businesses use PIM systems?
The advantage of a PIM system is that not all the information has to be in the same place in order to work together. For example, imagine you have several offices or warehouses in different locations, with data in different languages. With a PIM system, you can manage all your product information in a single central database. This allows the company to save a great deal of money, and there will be fewer errors when moving text and images around. To put it simply, PIM is a solution for easily presenting and improving product information, regardless of where the content will be published.
How does it work?
The PIM system brings together all your product information on a single platform. All information is obtained from here, regardless of which channel it will be presented in. This could be text, translations into other languages and images. Let’s take an example. If a company decides to produce a product catalogue, images and text for its products can be selected and automatically added to a catalogue layout. Instead of sending countless PDFs back and forth for proofreading, changes can be made in the database and will then be automatically shown in the catalogue layout.
